Why? If the current H1N1 Pandemic had been the H5N1 Avian Flu, statistical research tell us that approximately 50% of the people that contracted it would have died. As of June 2, 2009, the WHO reports 433 confirmed Avian Flu cases with 262 deaths. We can all agree that a 60% death rate is chilling. In addition, planning industry practitioners are considering the current situation as a warning, just like the first wave of the 1918 Spanish flu.
